Just Passing Through 2009

Just Passing Through was commissioned by Eastleigh Borough Council as part of the development of the adjacent leisure complex.  working with community groups in Eastleigh Alex developed 27 glass discs that reflect the mood changing from shopping to leisure, drawing on conversations with people about what they had enjoyed historically for leisure in Eastleigh.  The composition of the discs is based on braille, with some of the discs containing messages in braille through raised glass beads.  As people pass through the corridor they trigger a soundscape which moves from frenetic shopping to calming sounds of nature.
